Joe’s admiration for design was formed in his earliest years, growing up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where his family owned the esteemed and beautifully appointed hotel, Rancho Encantado.

He studied art history and literature at the University of Pennsylvania, and afterward, worked at Christie’s auction house, where he coordinated appraisals and traveled the country with the company’s art and furniture experts, assessing some of the most elegant and lavish homes in America.

Eventually, Joe began his own interior design practice, founding his own company, Joe McGuire Design, in 2005. His work has been featured in many publications, and he was pronounced one of Aspen’s top modern designers in a cover article by Aspen Magazine.
